France became the group winner, Portugal reached the knockout stage

France has entered the knockout stage by becoming the group winner in Euro Cup 2020.

France entered the knockout stage with a 2-2 draw with Portugal in the final match of the group stage at the Puskas Stadium. Karim Benzema scored twice for France and Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Portugal.

In the 31st minute of the game, captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot to give Portugal an early lead. Portugal were awarded a penalty after French goalkeeper Hugo Loris fouled Daniel Pereira in the penalty area. Ronaldo's goal gave Portugal an early lead.

However, France also had a penalty opportunity after Portugal's Nelson Semido fought Kellian Mbappe inside the penalty area during the injury time of the first half. Karim Benzema scored on the penalty spot to level the score at 1-1.

Karim Benzema scored his second individual goal in the 47th minute of the second half to give France a 2-1 lead.

Ronaldo's second penalty in the 60th minute brought Portugal back into the game. Portugal were awarded a penalty after Jules Condo handballed inside the penalty box.

Embappe had a golden opportunity to score in the 17th minute of the match. In a one-on-one situation with the keeper, the ball he hit could not take the direction of the goal post. Defending champions Portugal have also reached the knockout stage in Group F.

Portugal are third in the group with four points from three games.
