Banks will be able to invest up to 5 lakh loans to farmers through cooperatives

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has made arrangements for banks and financial institutions to disburse loans to farmers through cooperatives. Through the monetary policy of the current Fiscal Year, the banks have made arrangements to provide indirect credit to the farmers.

Arrangements will be made for commercial banks, development banks and finance companies to provide loans to such cooperatives for the purpose of collective farming and livestock and poultry rearing through group members of other thematic cooperatives other than cooperatives dealing in savings and loans. .

Policy coordination and technical assistance will be provided as per the need to increase the regulatory and supervisory capacity of the regulatory bodies of savings and credit cooperatives.

Payment service providers and payment system operators will be encouraged to provide electronic payment services to the customers of microfinance institutions and cooperatives by expanding their business.
