Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that while bringing the budget for the next financial year and spending the budget for the remaining period of the current year, the government will proceed by looking at the capacity and needs of the government.
In an interactive program on economic challenges and solutions organized by Economic Media Operators Association of Nepal (IMAN) in Kathmandu today, Finance Minister Poudel said that the work of budgeting for the upcoming fiscal year has started and the government will bring a budget based on reality, focusing on policy departure.
The discussion on the estimation of resources and the size of the budget for the coming year has already started. There are suggestions from various sectors that policy departure is necessary rather than moving forward in the current situation.
Finance Minister Paudel says that the government has adopted a policy of current expenditure reduction and it is not enough. "We have started cutting expenses. Although there have been suggestions from many places that it is necessary to remove ineffective policies and structures, we need to be clear about what policies and structures to remove", he said. Noting that the government has not met the target not only in budget expenditure but also in revenue collection, Finance Minister Paudel said that he will also seriously review this.
In this, we have failed in terms of policy or performance. Similarly, Poudel also said that in the next year's budget, priority will only be given to projects that have been prepared.
