Kathmandu. The government has decided to open government offices where essential services are provided on public holidays. Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma informed that the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on February 11 decided to open the offices considered essential on public holidays for service delivery.
She said that it is yet to be determined on which holidays the office will be opened. The Administrative Committee of the Council of Ministers will decide which office will be opened on holidays. She informed that the names of such holidays and offices will be decided soon. Henceforth, such offices will be open even if public holidays are announced.
"Such offices will remain open even on public holidays. The committee will list which offices will be opened on holidays", she said at the press conference held today to announce the decision of the Cabinet. He said that it will be made public after the names of the offices and holidays are listed.
"It has been decided that the ministries and agencies that are considered important for the delivery of services to the people will also work on holidays", she said. Even if employees are given leave instead, the office will be operated.
