Kathmandu. The Patan High Court on Thursday issued a short-term interim order to stop the screening of Indian films in film halls in Kathmandu. While hearing the petition of the Nepal Film Association, the single bench of Judge Dhir Bahadur Chand has issued a short-term interim order not to stop the screening of any film allowed by the Censor Board, including Indian films.
Balen Sah, the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, banned the screening of Indian films from last Monday, saying that Janki's dialogue in the Indian movie 'Adipurush' was not removed. The film association went to court against Balen's decision.
Meanwhile, after the order of the High Court, Mayor Balen has reiterated his stance of not allowing the screening of Indian films through the social network Facebook. "I am ready to suffer any punishment", he wrote. Balen has also accused the court and the Nepalese government of being slaves of India.
