Kathmandu. The Government of Nepal has promoted Ashokraj Sigdel, the chief of the Nepali Army, to Rathi. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday decided to promote him to that post. On November 8, Jangi Add recommended him to be promoted to Rathi.
Earlier, Taradhwaj Pandey, who was recommended for promotion in Rathi, resigned due to a date of birth dispute. With the acceptance of Pandey's resignation, Jangi Adda recommended Sigdel's name for promotion to Rathi.
It has been confirmed that Sigdel, who was promoted to Rathi by the government, will be the Commander-in-Chief. With the retirement of Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma on 24 August 2081, Sigdel will become the Chief of Army Staff.
