Gen-G protests in Nepal 8 Sep 2025 : 22 protesters was killed  out of 76

Kathmandu. The Nepali Army has stated that only 22 of the deaths during the Gen-G movement on 23 and 24 Bhadra were protesters. Presenting the figures at a press conference organized by the army, Chief of the War Affairs Department, Lieutenant General Anup Jung Thapa, said that 22 protesters were killed during the movement.

Lieutenant General Thapa said that 76 people died due to the movement, of which 22 were protesters, three policemen, 10 prisoners and 41 others.

19 people died in the Naya Baneshwor area and two in Itahari, Sunsari, in the protest called by the youth and teenage students of the Gen-G generation on 23 Bhadra in the police firing.

In September 2025, large-scale anti-corruption protests and demonstrations took place across Nepal, predominantly organized by Generation Z students and young citizens.

On 9 September 2025, Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli, along with a few government ministers, resigned. On 12 September, Sushila Karki was appointed as interim prime minister of Nepal.
