Kathmandu – Nepal Rastra Bank has made public the list of bank holidays for the year 2083. The Human Resources Management Department of the central bank has made public the list of bank holidays including Dashain and Tihar in the year 2083.
According to the Rastra Bank, banks will be closed on the New Year i.e. on Baisakh 1. A public holiday has been given on World Workers' Day (May 1) on Baisakh 18. Similarly, banks will be closed for 7 days during Dashain and 5 days during Tihar. Accordingly, banks will be closed on Ghatasthapana on Asosh 25 and from Phulpati on Asosh 31 to Dwadashi on Kartik 6. Bank holidays have also been given during Tihar from Laxmi Puja on Kartik 22 to Bhai Tika on Kartik 26.
Similarly, banks will be closed every Saturday and Friday will be half a day off. If the provincial government announces a public holiday in its respective province, a public holiday of up to 6 days in a year will be held in the offices of the concerned province and if the provincial government declares a public holiday of more than 6 days applicable to the entire province and in the case of the three districts of Kathmandu Valley, the decision will be made by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Rastra Bank has stated.
Meanwhile, the National Bank has also determined the office hours and banking transaction hours. From 1st April 2083 to 15th Kartik and from 16th Magh to mid-Chait, the office hours will be from 10 am to 5 pm. From 16th Kartik to 15th Magh, the office hours will be from 10 am to 4 pm. Every Friday, it will be from 10 am to 1:30 pm.
