Nepal's current economy Situation due to the Corona crisis

Corona is facing a global economic crisis. Industry, factories, hotels, tourism, airlines, transportation, along with the financial sector and business have been badly affected. Corona is also bringing crisis in the agricultural production sector. There is a state of sitting and eating what is produced, while corona control is becoming a factor for additional agricultural production and markets. The World Food Program (WFP) has warned that millions of people around the world could face unemployment and starvation.

Corona affects developing countries as well as developing countries. Financial institutions including the World Bank and ADB have been saying that the economic system of underdeveloped and developing countries will be affected due to Corona.

Due to the epidemic of corona virus, almost all the countries of the world, including Nepal, have been crippled.

The Ministry of Finance of Nepal has requested grants and loans from the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) as there are no financial resources to manage and treat the problem created by the Corona virus epidemic. At the same time, economic activity not only in Nepal but also in the world has come to a standstill due to the lockdown. The government is in a position to take loans to pay the salaries and allowances of ministers, parliamentarians and employees and also for other running expenses.

Thus, the economic situation of countries that depend only on donor assistance and loans seems to be worse.

Therefore, when the government of Nepal prepares its national budget, it is necessary to increase the investment in development programs by at least 10 to 20 percent of the revenue by making wide cuts in current expenditure. In addition, the country's economy can be saved from the economic crisis caused by the corona virus if the state adopts an economy that borrows only domestically and internationally for essential and profitable infrastructure projects.
