The Finance Committee of the House of Representatives has recommended the government to bring a budget of around Rs 1.69 trillion.
The Finance Committee has suggested to bring the size of the budget of the coming Fiscal Year 2077/78 to 45 percent of the estimated GDP of the current Fiscal Year. According to the Department of National Statistics, the total GDP in the current Fiscal Year 2076/77 is Rs. 37.67 trillion. If the budget is prepared as suggested by the Finance Committee, the budget will be around Rs. 16.95 billion.
The finance committee estimates that it will be possible to raise only Rs 1 trillion from the revenue. In the current fiscal year, the government had set a revenue collection target of Rs 1.11 trillion.
The committee has concluded that the expansion budget should come as COVID 19 should provide relief to the industries, businesses, workers and other sectors that have been badly affected and also make the economy dynamic.
