Kathmandu. Insurance companies operating in Nepal have earned Rs 39.90 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. According to the Insurance Committee, 19 life and 19 non-life insurance companies operating in Nepal have earned the premium by expanding their business.
A total of Rs 32.32 billion has been collected from life insurance business and Rs 7.58 billion from non-life insurance. According to the Insurance Committee, the same amount of insurance fee has been collected from 19 life insurance companies.
The new insurance company Union Life has collected more premiums than the old Asian Life, Met Life, Prime Life, Surya Life and Gurans Life. Union Life has earned a total premium of Rs 1.52 billion in the last three months.
Asian Life, Mate Life, Prime Life have also earned over Rs 1 billion in premiums during this period. Gurans Life, Surya, Citizen Life, Jyoti Life, IME Life Insurance, Reliable Life Insurance have premiums of over Rs 500 million while Sun Nepal Life, Sanima Life, Prabhu Life and Mahalakshmi have premiums of Rs 48, 43, 35, 25 and 250 million respectively. A total of Rs 7.58 billion has been earned from non-life insurance companies. Of the 20 non-life insurance companies currently in operation, the National Insurance Company has collected the same amount of insurance fee.
Shikhar Insurance has earned the highest premium from non-life insurance companies. According to the Insurance Committee, Shikhar Insurance has earned the highest premium of Rs 900 million. The premium earned by Shikhar Insurance is 11.87 percent of the total premium earned by non-life insurance companies.
During the same period, Sagarmatha Insurance earned Rs 730 million, or 9.63 percent of the total premiums. Similarly, NECO Insurance earned Rs 680 million, Siddhartha Insurance Rs 620 million, NLG Insurance Rs 560 million and Premier Insurance Rs 450 million.
The newly launched Ajoid Insurance has earned a total insurance fee of Rs 330 million. This is more than the old operations of Nepal Insurance, Oriental Insurance, Prudential, Nations Everest, United and Himalayan General Insurance. Sanima General Insurance has earned the lowest premium of Rs 120 million. It has earned the second lowest premium (Rs 180 million) among non-life insurance companies.
