Kathmandu: Mega Bank has reported a net profit of Rs 1.30 billion in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. Profit is 37.28% higher than last year. Last year, the bank had earned a profit of Rs 952 million. Mega's distributable profit also increased by 8.67% to Rs. 681.3 million.

 Mega's net interest income has increased by 26.60% and operating profit by 34.46% by mid-December. The increase in interest income and operating profit over the previous year seems to have contributed to the increase in net profit. The bank has managed to increase its deposits by 60.34% and credit investments by 66.32%.

Its non-performing loans increased from 1.49% to 1.71%. Mega's earnings per share fell by 32 paise to 17 rupees 97 paise. Net worth per share has increased by Rs 4.39 to Rs 131.64.
