Arun Valley's net profit raised 100 percent

Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) has published its unaudited financial statements for the second quarter of the current fiscal year. According to the statement, the company's electricity sales revenue has declined while net profit has increased.

The company has earned a net profit of Rs 68 million as of mid-January of the current fiscal year. This is Rs. 34.3 million or 102 percent more than the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. The company had earned a net profit of Rs 33.6 million in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Although the company's electricity sales revenue declined during the review period, net profit increased due to significant increase in revenue from other sources and significant decrease in interest expenses.

As of mid-January of the current fiscal year, the company has earned Rs 34 million from the sale of electricity. Which is Rs. 12 million less than the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. However, income from other sources has increased from Rs 193 million to Rs 65.3 million.

Similarly, the interest expense of the company, which was Rs. 47.39 million in the first six months of the last fiscal year, has come down to Rs. 6,569 in the same period of the current fiscal year. That is why the company's net profit has increased despite the decline in electricity sales revenue.

The company has a paid-up capital of Rs 998.3 million and a reserve fund of Rs 144.3 million. The company had accumulated Rs. 116 million in such fund till the same period of last fiscal year.
