Kathmandu. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India's medical regulatory body, says the covacin vaccine and covshield vaccine are now effective in preventing corona virus infections.

The ICMR said very few of those vaccinated had corona infection. ICMR Director Balram Bhargava said, "This vaccine definitely protects against infection. However, immunity begins to develop only two weeks after each dose, and not all people develop at the same time.

According to Bhargava, out of 11 million people who received the covacine vaccine against corona, 9,356,436 took the first dose. Of those participants, only 4,208 had corona infection. Of the 1,737,178 who took both doses, only 695 had corona infection.

Of the 116 million people who have been vaccinated against covshield in India, 103,245 had received the first dose. Of them, 17,145 had corona infection. 15 million had taken both doses of Covishield. Five thousand 14 of them were found to have corona infection.
