Bank of Kathmandu (BOKL) has significantly improved its profit despite declining net interest income. The bank has reported a 33 percent increase in profit in the third quarter of the current fiscal year.
The bank had earned a net profit of Rs 1.73 billion in the third quarter of the last fiscal year, an increase of 33.87 percent.
Despite the decline in the bank's own interest income, income from other sources has helped increase the bank's profit.
The bank's net interest income fell 18 percent to Rs 2.35 billion during the period, while operating profit rose 35 percent.
The bank's distributable profit has been negative by Rs. 90 million in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year and has reached Rs. 850 million in the corresponding period of the current fiscal year.
The bank's deposit collection has increased by more than 4 percent during the review period. Credit investment has also increased by 22 percent.
The bank, which currently has a paid-up capital of Rs 9.65 billion, has Rs 5.41 billion in reserves. The bank's earnings per share has also increased from Rs 13 to Rs 16.
