Yas cyclone : Heavy rains till Saturday and high risk of floods and landslides in Nepal

Kathmandu. Most parts of the country have received rains after a cyclone called Yas, which developed in the Bay of Bengal, made Nepal's weather unfavorable. According to meteorologists, the rain that has been falling since Tuesday will continue till Saturday.

According to the forecast bulletin issued by the Weather Forecast Division, it is still raining in some places in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati Province, Gandaki and Lumbini. Heavy rain is expected in Province 1, Province 2, Lumbini, Gandaki and some parts of Bagmati Province on Thursday afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate snow and rain in the mountainous and high hilly areas of the country, the department said.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs has called for vigilance as the risk of floods and landslides is high with high rainfall till Saturday.

Stating that the risk of heavy rains and floods and landslides has increased in all parts of the country except the western region till Saturday, NEA has requested to immediately call back the mountaineers who have gone for mountaineering.
