New variant of Corona confirmed in Nepal named 'Delta'

Kathmandu. The World Health Organization has given new names to new variants of corona virus found in different countries of the world.

The World Health Organization has named the variant found in the UK as 'Alpha', the variant found in Brazil as 'Gamma', the variant found in South Africa as 'Beta' and the variant found in India (B.1.617.2) as 'Delta'. Another variant (B.1.617.1) found in India has been named 'Kappa'.

Variants found in India (B.1.617.2) and (B.1.617.1) have also been confirmed in Nepal. Therefore, these variants found in Nepal should also be called Delta and Kappa, said Dr. Shukraraj Tropical and Communicable Diseases Hospital Director. Sagar Rajbhandari said. The 'Delta' variant found in India, which is considered highly contagious, is said to have spread to more than 50 countries around the world.

According to the BBC, the coronavirus has been renamed from the Greek word for simplification and to end its confusion.
