Health Workers' Ordinance: Four years in jail and a fine of Rs 200,000 for attacking a health worker

Kathmandu. The government is preparing to bring an ordinance with a fine of Rs 200,000 and imprisonment for up to four years for attacking health workers.

The Ministry of Health and Population has drafted an ordinance to amend the Health Workers and Health Institutions Security Act 2066 BS. 

It is proposed to impose a fine of Rs. 200,000 or four years imprisonment or both for harassing, assaulting or physically injuring a health worker or a health worker.

The bill proposes a fine of up to Rs 50,000 or one year imprisonment or both for threatening, harassing or abusing health workers or health workers. Similarly, those who obstruct the treatment of patients have been fined up to Rs 20,000 and imprisoned for up to three months.
