Kathmandu. For the first time in Nepal, BSc (Hans) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics will be taught at The British College, an educational institution recognized by the prestigious British Accreditation Council (BAC). The college will hold a formal program on Thursday to launch the BSc (Hans) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, a subject recognized by the British Engineering Council and the British Computer Society, in association with the University of the West of England (UWE).
Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Bam Bahadur Mishra formally inaugurated the educational program. Addressing the program, Mishra expressed happiness over the launch of the new educational program. Stating that Nepal Rastra Bank has also felt the lack of skilled manpower in the field of cyber security, Mishra expressed happiness that British College is going to conduct such courses. Expressing the bitter reality of having to pay huge sums of money to bring manpower from Singapore to investigate the ATM hack in Nepal, Mishra expressed confidence that British College would build manpower to contribute to the sector. He also said that there is no need to go abroad to study cyber security.
Addressing the program, Rajan Kandel, Founder and CEO of the College, said that there is a huge demand in the field of cyber security and digital forensics as Nepal is rapidly moving towards digital economy. Stating that educational programs related to this field are new in Nepal, he said, "Nepal is moving fast towards digital economy so there is a great need for cyber security and digital forensics in the country." Through such educational programs, we will be safe and we want to help build a secure digital Nepal. In addition, through this program, Nepali youth will gain knowledge and skills to compete in the global market. '
The panel discussion started after CEO Kandel's address. Former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Dr. During the panel discussion in which Rajiv Subba played the role of facilitator, he highlighted the situation of cyber security and digital forensics in Nepal. The panel discussion was attended by Vijay Kumar Roy, Director of Inspection Department of Nepal Telecommunication Authority, Binay Khadka, CEO of Khalti, Narayan Koirala, Executive Director of Eminence Wage, and Pashupati Ray, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
Similarly, Sujit Shrestha, CIO, Standard Chartered Bank and Yasmini Bhattarai, Head, IT Department, Ncell spoke on cyber security and digital forensics. The discussion was very fruitful. The college will start offering BSc (Hans) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics program from January 2022.
