Why do sometimes dogs barking when riding a bike or scooter ?

Kathmandu. You may have experienced dogs chasing your vehicle while riding a bike, scooter or car on the road or you may have seen other people's vehicles being chased by dogs. If a dog chases you while driving a car, the chances of getting hurt are very low, but while riding a bike or scooter, the chances of falling and getting injured are very high. Ever wondered why dogs do that? Although not scientifically confirmed, the reasons why dogs chase can be as follows

Dogs mark their territory by urinating on trees and vehicles in the area where they live. Sometimes a dog may urinate on the tires of your car when you park it in the parking area or somewhere else. And when you drive your car out of that place and enter another dog's territory, it can smell the other dogs and they think that the other dog has entered their territory, so they start chasing.

Dogs may like the lights of the car, the sound of the car, the squealing of the car's tires and they may be attracted to it, so they may run after the car. Similarly, the loud noise of some vehicles creates fear in dogs and they chase them.

What to do when a dog chases you while riding a bike or scooter?

In fact, there is a method that you can follow when a dog chases you. You may have noticed that most of the bikes bark and chase when the bike is in high speed. A dog wants to catch a running thing. However, if you do the opposite, i.e. if you slow down the bike after seeing a dog on the road, the dog will not bark and will not chase.

Besides, if necessary, you can stop the motorcycle and slowly exit that road. By doing this the dogs will stop barking. There is no need to panic when the dog barks and the motorcycle should not be driven too fast.
