Kathmandu Metropolitan City on July 1 to remove illegal structures in the city, the dozers started operating on the 36th day. The Metropolitan Corporation has now started removing digital and hoarding boards that are against the standards. The campaign started by Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) of Kathmandu Metropolitan City to remove illegal hoarding in the city has now spread to other cities as well.
Regarding Balen's 100-day work as the mayor of Kathmandu metropolis, Kishore Thapa, former secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, says, 'What can the local government do? Mayor Balen is showing what needs to be done.
Mayor Balen brought policies and programs and budget as promised during the election campaign. In his manifesto, he included in the budget the program of branding the domestic liquor popular in the Newa community.
His election promises include the construction of traditional-style falkas at bus stops within the Kathmandu metropolis and the arrangement of integrated ambulance services. Balen's manifesto included the program of home health check-up of citizens over 70 years of age and free availability of medicines prescribed by the Nepalese government, which were included in the policies and programs. All these things are included in the budget of the metropolis.
