Complaint filed against Rabi Lamichhane with Immigration and Nepal Police

Kathmandu. On Tuesday, two complaints were filed against the chairman of the National Independent Party, Ravi Lamichhane, in different offices. Yuvraj Paudel (Successful) has submitted a complaint to Metropolitan Police Division Kathmandu and Immigration Department.

In the complaint filed by Paudel at the Metropolitan Police Division, Lamichhane has been accused of passport-related offences. Similarly, in the complaint submitted to the Immigration Department, Ravi Lamichhane has been asked to investigate and take action on the issue of fraudulently obtaining a Nepali passport while he was an American citizen.

In the report submitted to the police, it is seen that the details of the incident are mentioned - dated Falgun 09, 2070, accordingly, the said Rabi Lamichhane, an American passport holder who obtained the citizenship of the United States of America on February 21, 2014, while still a citizen of the United States of America, came to Nepal on a family visa to visit his relatives.

And after obtaining American citizenship by concealing the actual details of the passport, he submitted a copy of the old citizenship certificate No. 18222 issued by the district administration office of Kathmandu dated 10th of Falgun, 2050 in the past to the passport department and kept the details of the Nepali citizenship which was not maintained, Ravi Lamichhane, who is an American citizen, issued a passport. Contrary to the prevailing provisions of the Act, he knowingly gave false details dated June 13, 2072, and accordingly, on May 27, 2015, he illegally obtained Nepali passport number 08834838, which is valid until May 26, 2025.

Demanding action, it is further written in the complaint - while being an American citizen and a passport holder, Ravi Lamichhane violated the Nepali passport law by taking a Nepali passport and keeping a double passport and using a double passport. Clause (b) of section 5 of 2024 and clause (a) of section 21 of 2076, which is currently in force, has committed a passport-related offense, so the offender, Ravi Lamichhane, should be arrested immediately, and the passport-related offense should be investigated and prosecuted according to law. I have submitted this complaint petition asking that action be taken and punishment be given to the extent.
