Kathmandu. Seven lakh 98 thousand 422 taxpayers have been added in the last financial year. Due to the addition of a large number of taxpayers under various headings in the same year, the basis for increasing the revenue sources of the government has increased.

According to the data of the Internal Revenue Department, the number of individuals who took the permanent account number has increased in the last year. Last year, 6 lakh 13 thousand 254 people got Personal Permanent Account Number (PAN).

Along with this, the total number of individual PAN holders has reached 36 lakh 63 thousand 558. Similarly, last year, 1 lakh 41 thousand 640 firms and companies took new pages for business purposes. The total number of people taking paan for business purposes has reached 19 lakh.

In the last financial year, 23 thousand 970 business firms and companies were registered for value added tax (VAT). Along with this, the total number of VAT registrations has reached 315,000. Nine thousand 548 taxpayers have been added towards excise duty. The total number of taxpayers under this heading has reached one lakh 21 thousand 779.
