Foreign tourists celebrated Holi in Thamel Kathmandu

KATHMANDU - Foreign tourists have also celebrated Holi festival with joy in world heritage areas including Thamel, the main tourist destination of the federal capital Kathmandu. With the arrival of spring season, the foreign tourists who came to visit Nepal have celebrated the Holi festival celebrated here on the occasion of Fagu purnima with joy. Lately, Holi festival celebrated in Nepal has been made to be celebrated by foreigners as well.

Foreign tourists are celebrating Holi by exchanging colors with each other, dancing and singing. Major tourist destinations of the capital, Thamel, Vasantpur, Durbarmarg, Patan, Buddh and other areas are celebrating Holi.

Thamel Tourism Development Council has organized Holi special program. According to the council, Holi festival was celebrated with musical entertainment program in front of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 Sanchayakosh.

Sahadev Dhamala, vice president of the council, informed that 80 percent of the tourists who visit Nepal come to the Thamel area. He said that the council has been entertaining foreign tourists by organizing various cultural programs on festivals and days including English New Year, Nepali New Year, Everest Day, World Tourism Day, Holi. Under the Thamel Tourism Development Council, there are currently more than 10,000 businessmen and around 2,000 house owners in Thamel.
